How this is worked out
Commission is your percentage of the service revenue you personally ring up. Tips are added as a percentage of that same revenue, because that is how most people estimate them. Booth rent and any product you buy yourself come out weekly, since that is how they are charged.
The hourly figure divides take-home by hours actually worked, not hours booked. That gap is the whole point. A stylist on 50% who is booked four hours out of eight is not earning half of what they ring up per hour on the floor — they are earning a quarter of it, and the difference is the thing worth fixing.
These are gross figures. Tax is not modelled, because it depends on whether you are an employee or renting your chair, on your state and on how you file. A guess at it would be worse than leaving it out.
